Marsh, Ukrainian govt launching data platform for investors, working on ship insurance
MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine's government is activating a data platform for investors supported by Marsh McLennan, the company's senior partner, Crispin Ellison, said at the Kiev International Economic Forum.
"Investors, governments and insurers need information about Ukraine that identifies existing risks and I am announcing the platform's launch. As early as tomorrow, investors and insurers on a global level will be able to find details online and read what is happening in Ukraine," Ukrainian media quoted him as saying.
It is necessary "to get investors and insurers interested in moving into the Ukrainian market, to give them more information, as on the risk and data platform," Ellison said."
He also said he believed a decision on insuring cargo transported by ships from Ukrainian ports might be reached in the near future.
Logistics routes and a military risk insurance mechanism are what Marsh is currently working on, he said.
"I hope that in 10 days the first such public-private partnership will be launched so that we can ensure $6 billion or even more, perhaps $10 billion of exports through the Black Sea. This really is a big step forward," Ellison said.
He also said a major public-private partnership agreement was being drafted, as a result of which London insurers will be able to insure ships from Ukraine.
It was reported at the beginning of October that Marsh has also been developing its own Ukraine grain shipping insurance, details of which should be revealed soon.
