Ukraine needs long-term financial support guarantees - Zelensky

MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Ukraine needs tangible long-term financial support guarantees, Ukrainian media quoted President Vladimir Zelensky as saying in a video address to the participants in the Fourth Ministerial Roundtable Discussion for Support to Ukraine as part of an annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).

"We need tangible long-term financial support guarantees to protect lives. This is always based on sustainable society," Zelensky said.

The use of funds for Ukraine "should be fully controllable and accountable," Zelensky said.

Ukraine also needs a reliable IMF mechanism for stimulating private investment as part of its economic support, "especially a mechanism to cover war risks and leverage donor capital with private capital. This is what always helps," he said.

In addition, Zelensky called for more active steps on the part of export credit agencies and project financing to implement investment and infrastructural projects.
