Russia might increase fertilizer export quota to end of Nov by 2.2 mln t

MOSCOW. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Russia might increase the export quota for fertilizers, which is in place from June 1 to November 30, by 2.2 million tonnes to over 18.5 million tonnes, according to a draft government resolution drawn up by the Industry and Trade Ministry and posted on the regulation.gov.ru website.

The additional quota was calculated taking into account the latest data on production, inventories and supplies of fertilizer and reflects the amount not needed on the Russian market, a memo attached to the resolution said. Fertilizers are being supplied to domestic farmers on time and in full, it said.

The Russian government imposed export duties on fertilizers on December 1, 2021 as a measure to curb the growth of food prices. The quotas have been extended several times since then.

At the end of May, the government extended the quota on mineral fertilizer exports from June 1 to November 30, setting the total quota at more than 16.3 million tonnes.
