Annual inflation in Estonia in September reaches 4.2%

TALLINN. Oct 6 (Interfax/BNS) - Consumer prices in Estonia in September for the year (since September 2022) increased 4.2%, while remaining unchanged compared to August of this year, the press service of the country's Department of Statistics reported.

In September, the prices for goods rose by 5.7% YoY, while services increased 1.3%.

The consumer price index was most affected by rising prices for food and non-alcoholic drinks. Compared to September last year, meat and meat products increased in price 12.6%, flour, pastries and cereals rose 11.9%, fruits rose 16.7%, sugar, confectionery and canned food went up 11.5%, and mineral water, soft drinks and juices increased 10.3%.

Meanwhile, housing tariffs fell 6.9%, gasoline prices fell 3.8%, and diesel fuel dropped 10.2%.

Inflation in Estonia in 2022 reached 19.4%. The IMF predicts a decline in inflation in the country for the current year to 9.7%. The forecast from the Bank of Estonia is 9.4%, while the Finance Ministry forecasts 9.6%.
