Cost of transportation from Ukrainian Danube ports rising

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - The cost of Panamax transportation of corn from the ports of Odessa, Yuzhny and Chernomorsk to China stands at $70 per tonne, while the cost of transportation to the Mediterranean coast of Spain is $51 to $54 per tonne, Ukrainian media said citing the Ukrainian Grain Association, which, in turn, refers to Atria Brokers.

As of October 5, rates for Handysize transportation of corn to the East Mediterranean coast were $60 per tonne, versus $60-62 per tonne to the eastern coast of Italy and Israel, and $65-67 per tonne to the Mediterranean coast of Spain, the report said. - USD/t.

The cost of grain transportation by coasters from Danube ports to most destinations has grown, while declining in the direction of Italy and Spain, the association said.

"In the first half of the week, navigation in the mouths of Sulina and Bystro was complicated by weather conditions, which led to the accumulation of ships. The situation improved somewhat in the second half of the week, and the number of stranded ships began to decline," it said.

As of October 5, the cost of corn transportation by coasters with a carrying capacity of 6,000 tons from the ports of Reni and Ismail to Crete increased by $5 per tonne to $61-63 per tonne. The cost of transportation to the eastern coast of Greece increased by $4 to $57-59 per tonne, versus a $4 increase to $55 per tonne in the direction of Marmara, and a $2 increase to $65-67 per tonne in the direction of the East Mediterranean. At the same time, the cost of transportation to Seville decreased by $3 to $80-82 per tonne, versus a decline by $2-3 to $73-75 per tonne in direction of Spain and a decrease by $1-2 to $68-71 per tonne in direction of the eastern coast of Italy. Rates to Israel remained at the level of last week - $70 per tonne.

The cost of transportation of granulated and non-granulated sunflower meal by coasters with a carrying capacity of 6,000 tonnes from the Reni and Ismail remained unchanged: $60-65 per tonne in the direction of Marmara, $82-83 per tonne to the eastern coast of Italy, and $90-95 per tonne to Spain.

The cost of corn transportation by barges to Constanta decreased by 3-4 euros to 38-40 euros per tonne. The rates grew by 2 euros to 62 euros per tonne for sunflower seeds.

The cost of transportation of granulated and non-granulated sunflower meal by barge from Danube ports to Constanta remained unchanged, 50 euros per tonne, the association said.
