Kazakhstan looking to start supplying halal products to Qatar

ASTANA. Oct 5 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan has suggested to Qatar to expedite the procedure to approve halal certificates, and the former is prepared to supply meat and other products to the latter, the press service of Kazakhstan's Prime Minister said in a statement.

The Kazakhstan-Qatar high-level joint commission held a meeting in Doha, Qatar, on October 3, during which Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin co-chaired the commission.

"Kazakh producers of meat and other food products have expressed their interest in exporting goods to the Qatari market. Therefore, I believe that it would be advisable to expedite the procedures to coordinate halal certificates between our countries. Moreover, we are ready to supply the premium segment of food products, such as caviar, fish, honey, and others," Zhumangarin said.
