Ukraine views Romania, Moldova as most promising routes for export infrastructure development - deputy PM
MOSCOW. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Ukraine sees Romania and Moldova as the most promising transit routes for its agricultural exports, and consequently for infrastructure development, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Kubrakov said.
Speaking at a conference in Kiev, Kubrakov said the Ukrainian government is currently working on logistical projects for exports via Moldova and Romania, which do not view Ukraine as a rival and see good commercial prospects for benefiting from the transit of Ukrainian goods, Ukrainian media said.
Ukraine is currently pursuing numerous projects on the Danube and plans to develop border crossings and finalize the construction of railway infrastructure toward Moldova, he said.
While Poland also remains an important direction for Ukrainian exports, the volume of shipments by rail via that country has dropped by half since last year, Kubrakov said. "With this level of utilization, there's no point in further developing railway infrastructure" in the Polish direction, he said.
