Over 900 vehicles waiting to cross into EU from Belarus

MINSK. Oct 4 (Interfax) - Over 900 vehicles, including 840 trucks, are waiting to cross into EU countries from Belarus, the Belarusian State Border Committee said on Wednesday.

"A total of 840 trucks are waiting to cross into the European Union. Over 730 trucks are standing near all Lithuanian checkpoints, which cleared 40% of the normal number of trucks into their territory over the past day," the committee said.

"Personnel of the Latvian Paternieki border checkpoint (Grigorovshchina) cleared 50% of the normal number of vehicles," it said.

More than 110 trucks were waiting to cross the Belarusian-Latvian border as of 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the committee's website said.

Cars are standing in line at just one border checkpoint, Brest.

"As of 10 a.m., an insignificant concentration of cars was observed only at the Polish Terespol checkpoint (Brest)," it said.

Over 60 cars are waiting to drive through the Brest-Terespol checkpoint, the committee's website said.
