Bishkek to host CIS summit on Oct 13

BISHKEK. Oct 4 (Interfax) - The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of the Heads of State will meet in Bishkek next Friday, the Kyrgyz presidential press service said, quoting head of the presidential administration's foreign policy department Muratbek Azymbakiyev.

"A meeting of the CIS Council of the Heads of State will take place in Bishkek on October 13 under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov," Azymbakiyev said.

Important decisions will be made at the upcoming meeting to expand and strengthen cooperation between the CIS members in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas, he said.

The CIS heads of state are expected to take part in the summit.

Earlier today, the Kyrgyz presidential administration announced Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Kyrgyzstan and his participation in the summit.
