Kazakhstan bans Belarusian cargo carriers from transloading operations

MINSK. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Belarusian carriers have been banned from using other trucks and trailers for transloading goods, the Belarusian Transport Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Based on information received from the Kazakh Transport Ministry's Transport Committee, a regulation is due to come into effect from October 9, 2023, which bans the international transportation of goods from third countries to Kazakhstan by 're-hitching and reloading' Belarusian cargo vehicles," the statement said.

On April 16, 2022, Belarus banned European Union carriers in response to an EU ban on Belarusian and Russian goods vehicles traveling to and through EU territory. Currently, EU-registered cars and trucks can only cross into Belarus at specially designated checkpoints for freight operations and transloading. At present, there are 20 such locations for transloading goods from the EU.
