Armenian PM, European Commission head discuss Karabakh

YEREVAN. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the situation in the South Caucasus region with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen by phone on Monday, the Armenian government's press service said.

"The telephone conversation involved discussing issues related to the situation, which resulted from the forcible deportation of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, the regional situation, and the agenda of cooperation between the EU [European Union] and Armenia," the press service said.

The two "agreed to continue the discussions at the European Political Community summit due to be held in Granada this week," it said.

Pashinyan is expected to attend a five-sided meeting with the presidents of France and Azerbaijan, the German chancellor, and the European Council president in Spain's Granada on October 5.
