Moldovan govt introduces EU accession plan for discussion
CHISINAU. Oct 2 (Interfax) - The Moldovan government has introduced a national plan for Moldova's accession to the European Union for public discussion, Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu said.
"This document is an important stage of our country's European course, as it replaces every previous step (documents) and clearly defines our national objective, i.e. preparing Moldova for accession to the EU by 2030. The plan will be the foundation of the accession process and will help adapt and integrate Acquis communautaire into national laws," Popescu said on a social network on Monday.
The plan "will be significantly edited upon the completion of an assessment together with the European Commission," he said. The European Commission will present a report on the progress made by candidate states in October 2023.
"Accession to the European Union is the primary objective of our country, and citizens' involvement is crucial for building a more prosperous future within the European community," Popescu said.
The document is available on the ministry's website, while proposals and recommendations can be sent to the ministry until October 12, 2023, he said.
