IPC permits Russian athletes to compete at 2024 Paralympics in Paris

MOSCOW. Sept 29 (Interfax) - The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has permitted Russian athletes to participate in individual competitions as neutral athletes at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, the organization said in a statement on social media.

"As a result of the General Assembly's decision, [National Paralympic Committee] NPC Russia's membership rights are suspended for two years with the exception that its athletes (and related support personnel) will be eligible to participate in an individual and neutral capacity (this means no teams) in the Paralympic Games [2024]," the IPC said.

This decision was adopted at the IPC General Assembly in Bahrain on Friday.

In March 2022, the IPC banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from competing at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. Later in November 2022, the organization suspended the National Paralympic Committees of Russia and Belarus as IPC members.
