Aliyev proposes expediting conclusion of Azerbaijani-Armenian peace agreement

BAKU. Sept 29 (Interfax) - Baku and Yerevan can expedite the signing of a peace agreement, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has said.

"We restored our sovereignty on September 20 [following the end of hostilities in Karabakh]. After September 20, the time has come for representatives of Azerbaijan and Armenia to sit down for talks and work on a draft of the peace agreement. [...] Now it will be easier to expedite the signing of the peace agreement," Aliyev said at the Second Azerbaijan National Urban Forum in Zangilan on Friday.

Aliyev called for simultaneous work on delimitation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and the end of the countries' long confrontation. "We in Azerbaijan want peace. We want to rebuild these territories and to bring our compatriots back here. We want peace and stability in the Caucasus. This is possible, and the choice is up to Armenia," he said.
