China permits Russian pork supplies to its market - Rosselkhoznadzor

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax) - China has granted Russia permission to supply pork to the Chinese market following ten years of Russia seeking entry to the country's large pork market, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) said in a statement.

Rosselkhoznadzor said that the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China has lifted the restrictions on Russian imports of pork after taking a decision to permit supplies based on the results of a risk assessment and analysis of the state control system for African swine fever in Russia.

The documents that had not permitted Russian pork supplies to China have ceased to be applicable, specifically regarding announcement No. 125 of 2008, as issued by the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, as well as the Agriculture Ministry of the People's Republic of China.

"Inspection and quarantine requirements for Russian pork exported to China will be formulated separately by the State Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China," according to the statement.
