Over 2 mln hectares sown with winter crops in Ukraine for 2024 harvest

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) -The sowing of winter crops continues in Ukraine; the crops have been sown on 2.179 million hectares, compared to 1.584 million hectares the week before, the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry said in a statement.

Winter rapeseed have been sown on 1.038 million hectares (1 million hectares a week earlier), and grains have been sown on 1.141 million hectares (585,000 hectares), of which 1.024 million hectares are sown with wheat (514,000 hectares), 74,000 hectares with barley (47,000 hectares), and 42,000 hectares with rye (24,000 hectares), Ukrainian media quoted the ministry as saying.

Winter grains were sown on 556,000 hectares over the past week (336,000 hectares).

According to a poll conducted by the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, most agrarians are not planning a significant change of winter crop areas in 2024, compared to the last season.
