Kazakhstan ratifies agreement with Turkey on simplified customs control

ASTANA. Sept 25 (Interfax) - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law "On the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the Organization of Information Exchange and Simplification of Customs Control Procedures," the press service of the Kazakh leader said on Saturday. This deal aims to streamline the movement of goods and vehicles between the two countries using electronic information exchange.

The agreement was concluded in order to increase efficiency and reduce the time required for customs control via the electronic exchange of information on goods and vehicles moved between the territories of the state parties.

In accordance with the provisions of the document, both sides' customs authorities will determine a list of competent officials responsible for the implementation of the exchange of preliminary information and authorized to implement direct contacts. Technical conditions for the exchange of information will also be developed and a pilot project will begin, upon whose completion the customs authorities of the parties will begin to exchange information on a regular basis.
