Search underway at Ukrenergo's central office

MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Investigative activities are underway at the central office of the Ukrainian national power grid operator Ukrenergo, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the company's press service.

The search is being conducted by the Prosecutor General's Office based on a warrant issued by Kiev's Pechersky District Court dated August 30, 2023, it said.

"Ukrenergo is facilitating investigative activities and voluntarily providing Prosecutor General's Office representatives with all documents indicated in the warrant. We would like to note that the company would have provided the investigators voluntarily with all the necessary documents without a search, but no such request had come from law enforcement officials," it said.

Some contracts from the list of documents of interest to the investigation had been previously reviewed by the State Audit Service (SAS), which had completed the company's audit in March, it said.

"Ukrenergo has disputed the SAS's audit findings in court, since it views them as biased and unprofessional, and some are in direct conflict with the law. It is a shame that power companies [...] have to contend with the SAS's biased conclusions. This does not help to properly prepare for the heating season, nor does it help to improve the country's defense capability," it said.
