New EU ambassador to Ukraine starts performing duties
MOSCOW. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Perebyinis has accepted copies of credentials from new European Union Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova, Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday.
"Within hours after arrival, EU Ambassador-Designate Mathernova presented copies of her credential letters to Deputy FM Perebyinis," the EU Delegation to Ukraine said in a statement.
"Mathernova and the team of the EU Delegation to Ukraine will work hard to deepen the strong EU-Ukraine partnership," it said.
As reported, European Commission Deputy Director-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Mathernova said on April 20 that she would be the next EU ambassador to Ukraine.
Mathernova has taken over from Matti Maasikas, who had served as head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine since September 2019.
