Air Products to carry out $10 bln investment program in Uzbekistan

TASHKENT. Sept 19 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan and U.S. industrial gases producer Air Products have reached an agreement on an investment program costing over $10 billion, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's press service said.

Mirziyoyev and Air Products Chairman, President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi discussed expanding the partnership, progress with current projects and plans for the future during a meeting in New York.

"At the end of the meeting, agreements were exchanged on the implementation of a new investment program for Air Products in Uzbekistan worth over $10 billion," the statement said.

Coal-to gas projects, production of industrial gases, hydrogen and ammonium, as well as utilization of sulfurous gases were discussed at the meeting. Air Products experts will have a role in drafting a regulatory framework for decarbonization in Uzbekistan. In addition, the project portfolio includes innovative food industry solutions.

Air Products is currently carrying out the Uzbekistan GTL industrial gases project and syngas gas, oxygen and nitrogen projects as well as liquefied carbon dioxide production at Navoiazot. The company has carried out direct investments of more than $1 billion in these projects over the past two years.
