Kazakh, Tajik presidents hold talks on advancing bilateral relations and regional priorities

ASTANA. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Dushanbe on Thursday and met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, the Kazakh president's press office said in a statement.

"The two leaders discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations. They also reviewed the progress made in implementing previously agreed-upon high-level agreements. Special emphasis was placed on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, economics, transportation, logistics, culture, and humanitarian initiatives," according to the press services.

Furthermore, the presidents exchanged views on pressing regional matters.

"The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering the strategic partnership and alliance," according to the statement.

Tokayev thanked Rahmon for the traditional warm hospitality and cordial welcome.

Tokayev arrived in Dushanbe to participate in the 5th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the meeting of the Council of Heads of State, founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS).
