Israeli investors plan to build 500-MW solar farm in Kazakhstan's Zhetysu Region

ASTANA. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's Deputy Regional Governor Aset Kanagatov has met with Israel's Guy Gershon, Co-CEO of Elmor Electrical Installation & Services 1986 Ltd, to discuss a solar power project in Kazakhstan's Zhetysu Region.

"The representatives of the Israeli company have confirmed their interest in building a solar photovoltaic power station in the Zhetysu Region, with capacity of 500 MW, together with Sunstar Energy LLP," according to the press service.

The Zhetysu Region authorities, Israel-based El-Mor Electric Installation & Services 1986 Ltd and Kazakh Sunstar Energy have signed a memorandum of intent.

El-Mor head of Project Development and Investment, David Golod, noted that the company would allocate $400 million to the project.

Kanagatov has pledged to allot the land plot for the solar farm construction and set up a working group to handle project details and deadlines.

Israel-based El-Mor Electric Installation & Services 1986 Ltd implements energy, electricity, and air-conditioning projects.
