Putin, Kim briefed on Angara rocket assembling, Soyuz-2 characteristics

VOSTOCHNY COSMODROME, Amur region. Sept 13 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have been briefed on the assembling of a new Angara rocket and characteristics of the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle while visiting the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

They visited the assembly and test building, where one of the rooms was upgraded to assemble Angara rockets.

The leaders were informed about technical characteristics of Soyuz-2 and Angara rockets.

Kim and the accompanying military commanders listened closely and the North Korean leader asked many questions about rocket fuel, places where the spent stages fall, and principles of the rocket movement.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Presidential Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, Roscosmos head Yury Borisov and TsENKI General Director Nikolai Nestechuk accompanied the two leaders on the tour.

They promised the North Korean leader he would be shown the unfinished Angara launch site.

At the end of the visit to the workshop, Kim Jong Un left a short note in Korean in the guest book.

Construction of the Angara launch site is being finalized at Vostochny. The rockets will be used for exploration of the solar system and beyond.
