Pope's envoy to visit China to discuss Ukraine situation

ROME. Sept 12 (Interfax) - Pope Francis's envoy Cardinal Matteo Zuppi will travel to China later this week to discuss ways to resolve the situation in Ukraine, the press service for the Holy See said.

The cardinal will pay a visit to Beijing on September 13-15, the press service said.

"The visit forms as another step of the mission desired by the Pope to sustain humanitarian initiatives and to seek paths that may lead to a just peace," it said.

Zuppi visited Kiev in early June, Moscow in late June and Washington, D.C., in July, it said.

Pope Francis said in August that it is necessary to find creative solutions to settle the conflict in Ukraine.
