Returning some assets to state upon initiative of prosecutor's office does not mean decision on renationalization; there are no such plans - Putin

VLADIVOSTOK. Sept 12 (Interfax) - There are not any plans for renationalization in Russia, and the office of the prosecutor general has the right in individual cases to assess the situation in specific companies, though this is not related to any decisions on renationalization, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the plenary session at the Eastern Economic Forum 2023.

"No renationalization is planned, no renationalization will happen. I can tell you this for certain," Putin said when answering the moderator's question regarding the concerns of businesses and talk about renationalization.

"The fact that the office of the prosecutor general is actively working in certain areas, in certain companies - well, law enforcement agencies have the right to assess what is happening in the economy in specific cases, though this is not related to any decisions regarding renationalization. This [renationalization] will not be, and [Prosecutor General] Igor Viktorovich [Krasnov] knows my position," Putin said.
