Agrarian associations urge Eastern European countries to continue talks to resume Ukrainian grain exports

MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian National Agrarian Forum on behalf of a number of agrarian associations has appealed to representatives of the European Commission and the prime ministers of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, and Romania not to extend the ban on Ukrainian grain imports, enhance the efficiency of transit corridors and establish a dialogue to find alternative solutions for mutually beneficial cooperation, Ukrainian media reported.

The representatives of the agrarian community expressed gratitude to the European Union for the measures taken to mitigate the negative impacts of this situation, in particular, for the implementation of the Solidarity Lanes initiative.

Due to the stance of a number of EU member states, the efficiency of the transit routes has drastically fallen, which "actually discredited this initiative," the forum said.

The Ukrainian agrarian community has expressed concern over the statements by a number of EU member states regarding the possible extension of the ban on imports of Ukrainian agricultural goods to the five EU member states, which "jeopardizes the above-mentioned initiative and further creates additional challenges for the Ukrainian agrarian sector."
