China allows shipments of fish from 12 additional Russian producers - Rosselkhoznadzor

MOSCOW. Sept 11 (Interfax) - China will allow 12 additional Russian enterprises and vessels to supply fish and seafood products to its market, Rosselkhoznadzor reports, citing a decision by China's General Customs Administration.

In total, 892 sites are currently included in the list of Russian enterprises and vessels that have the right to import fish products into China.

Registration of the new organizations was done via the CIFER Chinese information system.

Since Covid restrictions were lifted, China is once again a leading buyer of Russian fish. Rosrybolovstvo data show that, in the first eight months of the year, Russia exported 716,000 tonnes of fish products to China, which is almost 80% more than a year ago. Export value totaled $1.38 billion. Export share leaders were pollock (over 60% of total volume), herring (about 14%), fishmeal and crabs. The most valuable commodities were crabs (more than $500 million) and pollock ($470 million).

The trade turnover in fish products between Russia and China in January-August of this year was nearly $1.6 billion, which is 39% more than a year earlier. In physical terms, it increased almost 80% to 755,000 tonnes, Rosrybolovstvo said.
