German FM arrives in Kiev on unannounced visit - German Foreign Ministry

BRUSSELS. Sept 11 (Interfax) - German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock paid an unannounced visit to Kiev on Monday to support Ukraine's efforts towards joining the European Union, Western media said, citing the German Foreign Ministry.

Berlin "reaffirms strong support for Ukraine on its path to the EU," the ministry said upon Baerbock's arrival in Kiev.

The minister said that Ukraine "had made progress" in certain areas, including reform of the judiciary, but it would still have to fight corruption.

She pledged Germany's further support for Ukraine.

This is the fourth trip made by Baerbock to Ukraine since February 2022.
