Kiev court to consider appeal against businessman Kolomoisky's restraining measure on Sept 6

MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - The Kiev Court of Appeal will consider an appeal filed by the defense team of businessman Igor Kolomoisky against the court order handing down to him a restraining measure in the form of remand in custody with an alternative option of bail totaling UAH 509 million on Wednesday, September 6, Ukrainian media reported citing the businessman's lawyer Alexander Lysak.

As previously reported, Kiev's Shevchenkovsky District Court handed down to Kolomoisky a restraining measure in the form of remand in custody for two months with the possibility of bail exceeding UAH 500 million.

The court also ordered that Kolomoisky must turn in all documents and not communicate with witnesses. The lawyers can appeal the ruling within five days.

Kolomoisky declined to pay the bail, the defense team said. An appeal will be filed against Kiev's Shevchenkovsky District Court ruling.

The Ukrainian Security Service suspects Kolomoisky under two articles of the Criminal Code: Article 190 (fraud), Article 209 (legalization (laundering) of property obtained by criminal means).

The investigators found that Kolomoisky had legalized over UAH 0.5 billion by transferring it abroad between 2013 and 2020. At the same time, the investigators said that he had used the infrastructure of controlled banking institutions.
