No documents planned to formalize outcomes of Putin-Erdogan meeting, including as regards grain deal - Peskov

MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - The recent meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan aimed to compare notes, and its outcomes will not be formalized in any written documents, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"There are no plans to formalize the subjects in written documents or other documents. The main goal of yesterday's [meeting] was to compare notes on a very substantive range of [issues in] our bilateral relations, exchange opinions on well-known regional problems, and communicate each other's positions, as they say, firsthand. This goal has been achieved, and the negotiations were very, very constructive and productive," Peskov told journalists on Tuesday.

It was "hardly possible" to achieve agreements at the meeting between the leaders, including on the grain deal, as "these are multilateral processes," he said.

Speaking of the grain deal, Peskov said "it is the position of the collective West countries, which have been refusing to honor the Black Sea deal's terms for a long time, that doesn't make its further extension possible."

"Therefore, as this concerns other parties, it doesn't appear possible to agree on anything in concrete terms via bilateral contacts," Peskov said.

Putin and Erdogan met in Sochi on Monday. The grain deal was among the topics they addressed during their talks. It was announced following the meeting that Russia and Turkey, along with Qatar, may jointly supply one million tonnes of grain to African countries.
