VK changes organizational structure by creating two business groups combining key products, services
MOSCOW. Sept 5 (Interfax) - VK has changed its organizational structure by creating two business groups that combine key products and services, the Russian internet holding said in a statement.
Social Platforms and Media Content includes VKontakte, Odnoklassniki [Classmates], Zen, VK Video, VK Music, VK Clips and VK Messenger. Stepan Kovalchuk has led the business group as senior vice president for media strategy at VK.
Mail.ru, Rustore app store, VK ID, VK Pay, educational products and new businesses have been merged into Ecosystem and Integrated Services under the leadership of Alexander Aivazov, Senior Vice President for Business Development and Investments at VK.
As noted, the respective business groups could expand to include new assets of the holding as products develop. Products and services not included in the created business groups will continue to develop within their respective divisions.
The functional areas of responsibility of VK's senior vice presidents will not change.
"The upgrades will allow the holding to use end-to-end technological developments more effectively to improve the quality of functioning of products and solutions similar in functionality," the holding said.
VK has also appointed Anton Frolov, who is CEO of Zen, as Vice President for AI, and Frolov will be responsible for the two positions.
In his new role, Frolov will be involved in AI technologies, as well as building a single content recommendation and discovery platform for all VK products.
Frolov began his professional career at Kaspersky Lab, where he was involved in developing anti-spam technologies for e-mail. Since 2014, he has been developing Yandex.Translate and Yandex Search . In 2018, he joined the Zen team, where he has moved from CTO to CEO in three years.
