Over 500 trucks queuing to cross Belarus-Lithuania border - Belarusian Border Committee

MINSK. Sept 5 (Interfax) - More than 500 trucks are waiting on the Belarusian border to cross into Lithuania, the Belarusian State Border Committee said on Tuesday.

"As of 10:00 a.m., the Lithuanian route remains the busiest one for trucks, where about 520 vehicles are queuing to enter the EU," the committee said.

"The longest line of trucks can be seen in front of the Medininkai (Kamenny Log) crossing point. Over the past 24 hours, officers at this border crossing have let about 30% of the normal [daily] number of trucks into their territory. The Lavoriskes (Kotlovka) and Salcininkai (Benyakoni) crossings have processed 38% and 61% of trucks, respectively," it said.

In total, more than 510 trucks are waiting in line on the Lithuanian border, in addition to about ten queuing at the Kukuryki-Kozlovichi crossing on the Polish-Belarusian border, according to the data on the committee's website. There are currently no lines of trucks on the border with Latvia.

The Belarusian State Border Committee said earlier that lines of vehicles could grow at the crossing points that remain open on the border with Lithuania, announcing plans to reinforce the shifts at the Kamenny Log, Kotlovka and Urbany border crossings.
