Metal powder, paint producer to relocate from Kazakhstan to Tomsk

TOMSK. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Fort Verny LLC and Metran-Tomsk LLC plan to move production of, respectively, metal powders and non-autoclaved aerated concrete from neighboring countries to Tomsk, the heads of the companies said at a meeting of the council to improve the investment climate of Tomsk Region on Monday.

Fort Verny is currently located in Kazakhstan and produces quartz flour, aluminum powder and specialized paints. The company plans to invest about 250 million rubles in moving its existing equipment to Tomsk and buying new equipment.

"After assessing the investment appeal of regions we specifically selected Tomsk due to good feedback. We plan to begin relocating equipment and buy additional equipment this year and already start production of finished products next year," Fort Verny co-owner and CEO Vladislav Dyudin said.

The initial investment will be "up to 250 million rubles" and the project will create "at least up to 50 jobs with potential for expansion," Dyudin said.

After launching production of metal powders, the company plans to set up production of specialized paints, such as waterproof and fire retardant paints, in 2025.

"We specialize more in nonferrous metallurgy - aluminum, powder metallurgy, fine aluminum powder. We have patented technology for milling, including quartz sands to produce quartz flour, which will be the source material for production of other types of products, including for the construction industry," Dyudin said.

Fort Verny was registered in Moscow in June 2023 and is equally owned by Dyudin and Dmitry Motin, the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRLE) showed. Dyudin said the company plans to re-register in Tomsk in October-November.

Metran-Tomsk CEO and owner Vasily Kosyatov said at the meeting that the company, which was registered in Tomsk in August 2023, "also plans to relocate from a neighboring country." He did not name which country.

"As a raw material we use, among other things, aluminum powder produced by Fort Verny. Plus, there is a mining and processing complex in Tomsk [Ilmenit Tugansky GOK] which has, as a by-product, high quality sands that we use in our process chain. Thanks to this synergy we plan to start producing non-autoclaved aerated concrete," Kosyatov said.

He estimated the cost of moving production at 125 million rubles and did not rule out future expansion, depending on demand for the company's products.

A production line has already been acquired and tested, he said. The company is leasing space at the Tomsk special economic zone and is selecting a site for the location of its own production facility.

Metran-Tomsk expects to move its equipment before winter and then set it up so it can begin production of non-autoclaved aerated concrete and dry mortars in the spring for the start of the construction season.
