Ukraine has no right to use int'l aid irresponsibly - deputy prime minister

MOSCOW. Sept 1 (Interfax) - Kiev must accelerate its efforts on countering financial violations, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishina said.

"We cannot and do not have the right to use the assistance provided irresponsibly. Ukraine must accelerate and deepen its efforts to combat financial irregularities. This is part of our country's path to EU membership," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Stefanishina as saying in a statement released by her press service following a session of the Interagency Coordination Council for countering violations affecting the financial interests of Ukraine and the European Union.

At a time when a significant share of revenues of Ukraine's state budget is generated by external flows, in particular from the EU, the issue of ensuring effective protection of the financial interests of partners is very acute, the deputy prime minister said.

It was decided following the session of the Coordination Council to create a working group for drafting regulations and legal acts for the protection of the EU's financial interests, Ukrainian media outlets said with a reference to Stefanishina's press service.
