U.S. humanitarian aid for Ukraine tops $2.6 bln - State Dept

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Figures released on August 25 show that the U.S. government has provided more than $2.6 billion in humanitarian assistance to help people in Ukraine, Ukrainian media said, citing the ShareAmerica media platform of the U.S. Department of State.

"This humanitarian assistance - through the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State - includes: health assistance, access to safe drinking water, essential items," a statement published on ShareAmerica said.

While the bulk of humanitarian assistance was directed inside Ukraine, over $451 million went to help meet the needs of neighboring countries which took in Ukrainian refugees, such as Poland, Moldova and others.
