Forest fire in Gelendzhik grows to 30 hectares

KRASNODAR. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Over 400 men and 70 vehicles, including two Mil Mi-8 helicopters of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry are fighting a forest fire in Gelendzhik, which has spread onto 30 hectares, the press service for the ministry's branch in the Krasnodar Territory said.

"According to the latest update, the fire is burning on 30 hectares. It is being fought by over 400 men and 70 vehicles, including two helicopters with spillway equipment," the press service said.

High winds of up to 20 meters per second and complex relief are hindering the firefighting effort, it said.

"There is no threat to the infrastructure and no casualties," the press service said.
