Ukrainian govt expands range of foreigners eligible for immigration

MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has expanded the range of foreigners and stateless persons who are entitled to receive a permit for immigration to Ukraine.

The relevant decision was made at a government meeting on Tuesday, Ukrainian media reported citing the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnichuk.

In particular, amendments have been made to the resolution approving the procedure for the formation of immigration quotas.

Hence, the range of foreigners and stateless persons who are entitled to obtain a permit for immigration to Ukraine has been expanded by persons who served in the Ukrainian State Special Transport Service and the Ukrainian National Guard for three or more years, as well as by persons who served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the State Special Transport Service and the National Guard (regardless of the term of military service) and were recognized by the military medical commissions unfit for military service for health reasons as a result of diseases, wounds (traumas, contusions, bodily injuries) sustained while performing military service.

The Defense Ministry and the National Guard are also empowered to submit proposals to the State Migration Service to set immigration quotas for the above-mentioned categories of persons.
