Gazprom Neft to launch full cycle production of Russian synthetic oils

MOSCOW. Aug 28 (Interfax) - Gazprom Neft-Lubricants LLC is preparing to launch a hydroisodeparaffinization complex at the Omsk Lubricants Plant, which will become Russia's largest production facility for components for high-tech synthetic oils used in automotive machinery and industrial equipment, Gazprom Neft said in a statement.

The new complex will make it possible to stop using imported base oils and provide the Russian market with modern lubricants created entirely on a domestic basis. The production volume will be 220,000 tonnes per year, with Gazprom Neft's investment in the project exceeding 44 billion rubles.

"The complex has no counterparts in the Russian oil refining industry and can operate on all types of oil feedstock for oil production, due to which maximum efficiency is achieved. Production will be carried out according to a three-stage system, which ensures that synthetic oils will meet the best world standards. All technological stages will take place with use of hydrogen and modern catalysts, thanks to which the key properties of lubricants are revealed and enhanced," the company said.

With the commissioning of the complex, the company will be able to "multiply the output of the necessary base components for its own production of synthetic oils, as well as for other Russian partner enterprises," Anatoly Skoromets, Head of Gazprom Neft-Lubricants was cited as saying in the statement.
