Verkhovna Rada terminates Ukrainian-Russian readmission agreement

MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada has terminated an intergovernmental agreement on readmission with Russia, Ukrainian media reported citing Ukrainian deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

The readmission agreement was signed on October 22, 2012 in Moscow, and was ratified by the Verkhovna Rada on June 5, 2013. The agreement took effect for Ukraine on August 8, 2013.

The agreement defined additional legal procedures for the repatriation of Russian citizens to their home country, as well as third-country nationals who illegally arrived in Ukraine from Russia back to that country.
