Thunderstorm leaves over 130 communities in western Ukraine without electricity - Energy Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - A thunderstorm has left 119 communities in the Lvov region and 12 in the Ivano-Frankovsk region without electricity, Ukrainian media reported citing the Energy Ministry's message on social media on Wednesday.

Furthermore, it is reported that some customers in the Sumy, Kharkov, and Chernigov regions, as well as in the Kiev-controlled part of the Zaporozhye, Kherson and Donetsk regions remain blacked out.

In total, 412 communities have been cut off from power supply as of today, the Ukrenergo national energy company (NEC) said in its message on social media.

At the same time, a part of equipment has been restored at five power substations in the northern and central regions, the company said.

"The restoration of a part of the equipment has made the reliability of electricity transmission through the trunk grids more reliable for consumers. The work continues to fully recover the functionality of power substations," the NEC said.
