Ukrainian Education Ministry to receive 8.5 mln euros from EIB to develop vocational education system

MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Education and Science Ministry will receive an 8.5-million-euro grant from the European Investment Bank (EIB) in support of a project for developing and upgrading vocational education institutions.

"The EIB and the Education and Science Ministry have concluded an agreement on implementing the Vocational Education and Training project. The agreement envisions an EU grant of 8.5 million euros to assist the efficient project preparation, procurement, and implementation, as well as for communication purposes," Ukrainian media quoted the ministry as saying.

The EU and EIB financing is aimed precisely at reconstructing and upgrading vocational schools to lay the groundwork for their further transformation, it said.

"This grant complements an EIB loan of 58 million euros signed in 2021 to finance the construction, renovation, and upgrade of existing vocational education and training establishments, and will further boost interest in vocational education among young people," it said.
