Novak discusses cooperation in fuel and energy complex with Egypt's oil and mineral resources minister

MOSCOW. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has discussed by phone the possibility of expanding cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including in the oil and gas sector, and electricity and hydropower sector, with Egyptian Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Tarek Molla, the Russian government's press service reported.

"The intensive contacts between our countries reflect a common interest in strengthening Russia-Egypt multifaceted cooperation. A regular and trusting political dialogue is maintained, including at the highest level. We consider Egypt to be one of Russia's most important partners in the Middle East and on the African continent," Novak stressed.

Novak noted the positive dynamics in developing bilateral cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. The volume of Russia-Egypt trade increased 30% year-on-year in 2022, and a further increase in the volume of mutual trade has been recorded this year, the Russian government notes.
