Sollers to start producing transmissions at ZMZ plant in 2024, will invest 600 mln rubles
NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Sollers will launch the production of transmissions at the site of its Zavolzhsky Motor Plant (ZMZ, Nizhny Novgorod Region), with investments in the project exceeding 600 million rubles, the company's press service said.
Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sollers Adil Shirinov visited the production workshop of the new enterprise.
"Serial production of a 6-speed manual transmission at a subsidiary of Sollers PJSC, Sollers Transmission Production, will launch in the second quarter of 2024. The company will assemble and test manual transmissions. It is also planned to localize technological operations for the casting and machining of crankcases. In the future, the localization of all the main parts of a manual transmission is being considered," the company said in a statement.
It is planned to produce 7,000 transmissions at the new facility in 2024, with a subsequent increase to 50,000 units per year.
New manual transmissions will be installed on Sollers light commercial vehicles and UAZ vehicles, the report says.
