M.Video-Eldorado freezes prices on 30 categories of socially significant electronics due to ruble-rate instability

MOSCOW. Aug 17 (Interfax) - M.Video-Eldorado Group has frozen prices in 30 product categories of socially important electronics at July levels due to currency fluctuations, the company said.

The program was implemented with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Federal Antimonopoly Service to stabilize price conditions. The program will last for two months with the possibility of extension depending on the development of the situation.

It applies to prices for household appliances and electronics in the low and middle price segments in all cities where the retailer operates.

"Laptops, mobile phones, smartphones and external batteries are available at the lowest prices in July; this will be important for consumers at the start of the new school year. The list of socially significant equipment also includes refrigerators and freezers, gas and electric stoves, ovens, microwave ovens, electric kettles, blenders, mixers, meat grinders, televisions, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, irons, climate control equipment, hair styling and personal care products.
