Switzerland partly joins EU's 11th sanction package on Russia

PARIS. Aug 16 (Interfax) - The government of Switzerland has enacted a number of measures that the European Union earlier introduced with regard to Russia as part of the 11th sanction package, the Swiss government said in a communique published on Wednesday.

In particular, the measures "include a ban on exports of dual-use goods and goods that contribute to Russia's military and technological enhancement," it said.

The measures ban the sale of electronic components and precursors to chemical weapons, as well as intellectual property rights in connection with various goods.

The ban on transit through Russia has been extended to some other goods, including jet fuels.

The EU adopted its 11th sanction package on Russia on June 23. The EU sanction lists includes 71 individuals and 33 entities, among them Russian officials, journalists, businesspeople, military officials, and companies linked to Russia's military industry.

Switzerland joined a number of measures under this sanction package on June 28 by imposing restrictions on a number of individuals and entities.
