Ukrainian Shipping Register sets up 5 regional directorates

MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - To optimize working processes and improve management efficiency, the Shipping Register of Ukraine national classification society has set up five regional directorates, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the company's website.

"Starting August 16, 2023, a new structure has been introduced to optimize the Shipping Register of Ukraine's working processes and improve its management efficiency," it said.

As part of reorganization, the company has set up the Southwestern Directorate (with offices in Kiev, Cherkassy, Ternopol, Kamenets-Podolsky, and Chernigov), the Pridneprovskoye Directorate (with offices in Dnepr, Zaporozhye, and Kremenchug), the Dunaiskoye Directorate (with offices in Izmail and Kiliya), the Maritime Supervision Directorate (with offices in Odessa, Chernomorsk, Nikolayev, and Kherson), and the Directorate of Foreign Missions (with an office in Hungary's Budapest).

The Register's work with the new structure should streamline executive processes, with special significance attached to speeding up Ukraine's European integration and optimizing the Register's functioning amid martial law, it said.

The Shipping Register's functions are focused on navigation safety. In particular, it is responsible for technical supervision over the construction, re-equipment, modernization, and repairs of vessels and ship mechanisms, as well as technical supervision of operating vessels through inspecting them and issuing navigation readiness certificates.
