Half of Russians see improvement in domestic tourism conditions in past 5 years - poll

MOSCOW. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Half of Russians, or 50%, believe that domestic tourism conditions have improved over the past five years, the Public Opinion Foundation said in a statement on its website.

Such respondents mention good hotel service, development of tourist infrastructure in various regions and transport accessibility, the pollster said.

Five times fewer respondents, or 9%, believe domestic tourism conditions have deteriorated, it said.

They note high prices on recreation and travel.

Nearly one in six Russians, or 17%, do not see any change in domestic tourism conditions in the given period, and 24% are undecided, the pollster said.

The Public Opinion Foundation polled 1,500 respondents aged 18 and up in 104 communities in 53 regions of Russia on July 21-23.
