Russian Soyuz MS-24 crew fit to fly to ISS - Roscosmos

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - A chief medical commission has concluded that cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub are fit to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) next month, Roscosmos said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The meeting has concluded that the main and backup crewmembers of the Soyuz MS-24 crewed spacecraft, Oleg Kononenko, Nikolai Chub and Alexei Ovchinin, are fit for spaceflight," the statement said.

The commission is made up of representatives from Russia's Cosmonaut Training Center, Federal Biomedical Center, Institute of Biomedical Problems, Health Ministry and Defense Ministry.

The commission recommended dropping cosmonaut Oleg Platonov from the backup crew, Roscosmos said earlier on Tuesday.

The launch is due on September 15. The main crew are Kononenko, Chub and NASA astronaut Loral O'Hara.
