Ukrgazvydobuvannya commissions two more gas well with combined flow rate of over 430,000 cubic meters per day

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Ukrgazvydobuvannya (UGV) has commissioned two more gas well with combined flow rate of over 430,000 cubic meters per day, Ukrainian media reported, quoting the Naftogaz group's website.

The first of the wells is an exploration well with a depth of 5,850 meters. The field where it was drilled was discovered 40 years ago. Based on the results of the 3D seismic surveys, geologists continued follow-up exploration and found promising new drilling sites.

The second well was drilled at a field discovered 55 years ago. Its production has declined fairly quickly in recent years due to significant depletion. "However, the negative trend was halted thanks to an additional drilling program, as well as seven new production wells put into operation over the past year. This made it possible to shift from production decline to production growth," said Oleg Tolmachev, interim head of UGV.

Company specialists put both wells into operation without outside involvement: specialists from Ukrburgaz carried out drilling, while UGV-Service specialists carried out the multi-stage hydraulic fracturing operation.

"We have put more high performance wells into operation in line with our goal of increasing domestic gas production. The use of the latest geological approaches, late-stage field development design, increased drilling efficiency, and complex stimulation operations have helped us give old assets a new lease of life," said Naftogaz CEO Alexei Chernyshov.

UGV aims to boost its own gas production by 1 billion cubic meters to 13.5 bcm in 2023. Production fell 3% to 12.5 bcm in 2022.

Naftogaz owns 100% of UGV.
