Uzbek vets start inspecting Russian suppliers of animal products

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Experts from Uzbekistan's State Veterinary and Livestock Development Committee began a two-week visit to Russia on Monday during which they will check out the country's system for monitoring exports of animal products and inspect Russian businesses interested in exporting to the Uzbek market, Russian plant and animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said.

The visit began with talks at Rosselkhoznadzor during which detailed information was presented about the structure and organization of Russia's veterinary service. The Uzbek experts were given answers to questions regarding lab testing, identification of animals, product tracking information systems, certification of veterinary specialists and other issues, the watchdog said.

The trip schedule includes visits to the VGNKI and VNIIZZh research institutes, businesses in Vladimir, Saratov, Tambov, Pskov, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Moscow and Penza regions, Tatarstan, Mordovia and Altai Territory and to some other facilities.
